Norma Jean Crawley, 81, of Las Cruces, died Friday, July 24, 2009. "Nursie" as she was fondly known was born July 28, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan to John and Nell Bakos. She had been a retired Registered Nurse where she served the community of Las Cruces proudly for many years at Memorial General Hospital and the Las Cruces Public School System. She truly cared for all the children who came to see her for their medical needs. Jean enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, waking up to the Organ Mountains, fishing, visiting with friends, gambling and playing slot machines, but her passion was for her family. Mrs. Crawley will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving her is her loving husband of 60 years John Crawley of El Paso, TX; two sons Bill Crawley (Pat) and Keith Crawley (Maria) all of Las Cruces; grandchildren Crystal (Paul), Chris, Carl and Kathleen and by her great-grandson Joey. Also surviving her are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters JoAnn McCarthy and Mary Helen Cooley. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Getz Funeral home. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana, NM with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Honored by being Jean's pallbearers are Carl, Chris and Joey Crawley, Wiley Curry, Russ Eddings, Ralph Kelly, Paul Nevarez, Terry Teets and Mark Benavidez.
