Paul L. Mendes, 75 years old of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Paul was born April 2, 1930 in Balmorhea, Texas to Balente and Tomasa Mendes. Paul was a resident of the Las Cruces area since about 1956. He had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany, and had retired from White Sands Missile Range as a security guard in 1987....

Paul L. Mendes, 75 years old of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Paul was born April 2, 1930 in Balmorhea, Texas to Balente and Tomasa Mendes. Paul was a resident of the Las Cruces area since about 1956. He had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany, and had retired from White Sands Missile Range as a security guard in 1987. He was also a member of the Catholic Church attending St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Paul is survived by four brothers, John Mendes, Ramon Mendes and Inez Mendes all of Las Cruces, NM and Balente Mendes Jr. of Odessa, Texas. Six sisters, Manuela Borunda, Yolanda Mendes, and Alicia Munoz all of Las Cruces, NM; Petra Chaves of Pecos, Texas, Carolina Mendes and Oralia Mendes both of Odessa, Texas. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. Besides his parents Balente and Tomasa, a sister, Mary Benavidez and a nephew, Tomas (Tommy) Mendes, preceded him in death. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel, where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 9 AM on Friday, May 27, 2005 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Juan Mendes Jr., Raymundo Mendes, Jaime Mendes, Nestor Borunda, John Ruiz Jr., and Andres Borunda PDF Printable Version
