Patricia Ann Herrera, age 46, was escorted to her heavenly home by the angels of our Lord, Jesus Christ on October 20, 2005 at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. Patricia was born on March 2, 1959 in Las Cruces, NM to the late Santiago "Jimmy" Herrera and Luisa Cano Herrera. "Patsy" dedicated her life to her sons and her mother. She loved baking and cooking, adding a special flavor to special moments for special people in her life. For the last several years she also shared herself with the children she came to love as they passed through Kindergarten at Hermosa Heights Elementary where she was an Educational Assistant in a Kindergarten class with her dear friend and Teacher, Bea Jenkins. She was also an active member and officer in the Hermosa Heights Parent Teacher Organization. Patricia was blessed with two sons, John-Michael Herrera and Joseph Perea, and they were blessed by her. Other survivors include her mother, Luisa Cano Herrera ; five brothers: Jimmy Herrera and wife Manuela; Sammy Herrera and wife Alice; Robert Herrera and wife Yoli; and Paul Herrera and wife Gloria; Joe "Tine" Herrera. Her sisters include: Gloria Lujan and husband Charlie; Erlinda Gurrola and husband Daniel. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and several God-Children including Stephanie Cespedes. A visitation will be held Monday October 24, 2005 from 5-7 PM with a Prayer service to follow at 7 PM at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Genevies Catholic Church- 100 S. Espina, Las Cruces, NM.Burial will follow at hillcrest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are her nephews and nieces: Joey Sandoval, Tony Lujan, Tommy Herrera, Sammy Herrera, Jr., Joshua Gurrola in lieu of Danny Gurrola, Jr. Audrey Chavarria, Anthony Herrera and Valerie Rios. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and nieces Jeffrey and Steven Sandoval, Melisssa Atencio, Kenny and Jessica Lujan, David and Steven Herrera, Barbara Terc and Matthew Herrera, Lisa Herrera, Rachel Lobato and Denise Herrera and others she held close to her heart, Dasha Lilly and Jesse Torres.
