Paul Winston Black December 21, 1940 – March 18, 2024 Also known to his dear friends as Pablo, left his earthly home the morning of March 18, 2024. Paul was born in Carlsbad, NM to Miles F. Black Sr. and Emma A. Black. He spent his early childhood years in Carlsbad and the family moved to Farmington, NM where he graduated in 1959. He began his civic duties as a Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He served in the U. S. Navy as a missile technician aboard the USS Albany (CG 10). He earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration at NMSU. Paul had a huge heart for helping others. He joined various organizations to help others in his community and throughout the country. He was active in his Masonic life as a lifetime member of Socorro Lodge #9, Past Master of Dona Ana Daylight Lodge #78, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, White Sands Rocket Chapter No. 282 National Sojourners, and Past President of the Las Cruces Shrine Club as well as a member of Lions club among others. In his passion for children he selflessly and actively brought awareness of and participated in fundraising events to support the Shriners Hospitals For Children. He truly believed that “No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child.”

He had an entrepreneurial mind and a special knack for buying struggling businesses and making them very successful. He retired from his latest venture, Sunny Acres RV Park in 2013, which added to his love of the great outdoors and travelling. Paul was an avid fisherman whose greatest enjoyment came when fishing with his grandsons. Paul was very proud of Logan and Ryan. He was blessed with having the opportunity to travel and see most of this great country with his wonderful wife before his health failed.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years Lynn Black of Las Cruces, daughter Allison Wells and husband Colby as well as grandsons Logan and Ryan Wells of Missouri, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. The family would like to express their gratitude and love to the extended family at Desert Peaks Assisted Living for their love and friendship over the last five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Miles F. and Emma Black, sister Winifred Fenwick and brothers Miles and Walter Black.

A date for a future Celebration of Life to be decided.
