Paul O. McDonald Sr., 78, of Las Cruces died Monday February 20, 2006. He was born November 24, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to William S. and Fannie Mae McDonald. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, and became a brick mason after he was Honorably Discharged. Paul owned auto-wrecking yards in Roswell, NM, and for the last 35 years he was self-employed in the wholesale auto business. He loved being in the outdoors and was an avid hunter with both the riffle and the bow. He enjoyed taking his family camping and boating. Paul was also a bowler here in Las Cruces and Roswell. He loved a good Cowboys game or a John Wayne movie, but will be remembered most by the love he gave his family. Our "Rock" is Going Home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jacqueline, four sons; Paul O. Jr. and wife Betty of Las Cruces, NM William S. II and wife Diana, Charles T. and wife Peggy all of Albuquerque, NM and Karl E. and wife Virginia Artesia, NM two daughters; Kathaleen M. White and husband Jim of Las Cruces, NM and Rebecca V. Short and husband Brandon of Woodbridge, VA. He is also survived by grandchildren; Paul O. McDonald III, Andromeda Rucker and husband Frank, Athena Sheperd and husband Mern, Jason S. McDonald and wife Emmy, Megan Wong and husband James, Chelsea McDonald, Lyssa Krauel and husband Ben, Tally McDonald, Alan R. White, Jordan McDonald, Delaney Short and Kaylee Short, great grandchildren; Danielle, Abigail, and Caden. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters; William Elwood McDonald, Alma Smith, Edna Owens, and Gene McDonald. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday February 24, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. Officiating will be Elder Karl E. McDonald. Military Honors presented by the United States Navy.
