Paula Salas Castillo, "Ama", as she was fondly known, 93 of Las Cruces, NM died Monday, January 29, 2007. She was born June 17, 1913 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Margarito and Leocardia Salas. Paula Salas Castillo, "Ama", as she was fondly known, 93 of Las Cruces, NM died Monday, January 29, 2007. She was born June 17, 1913 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Margarito and Leocardia Salas. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Paula is survived by four sons, Ralph, Atilano, Ruben and Javier Castillo all of Las Cruces. Five daughters, Frances Aranda of Mesilla, NM; Margarita Salazar of Las Cruces; Salome Gallegos of Las Cruces; Maria Hinojos, "Okie", of Houston, TX; and Esperanza Zayas of Inglewood, CA. One brother, Pedro Salas of Las Cruces, NM, two sisters, Ignacia Montanez of Fresno, CA and Lucy Flores of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving Paula are 33 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gomecindo Castillo in 1999; one son Juan Castillo and two brothers, Ralph and Joe Salas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite, Las Cruces, NM. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at San Albino Cemetery in Mesilla, NM. Officiating will be the Fathers of the Order of the Augustinian Recollects. Serving, as pallbearers will be Joseph Ochoa, Anthony Aranda, Johnny Castillo, Gilbert Aranda, Miguel Salazar, and Robert Aranda. PDF Printable Version
