Peter C. Bauer, 87, passed away January 13, 2024, with his family by his side. Pete was born in Deming, NM, December 17, 1936, to Peter and Fannye Allison Bauer. Pete, an only child, grew up in Deming and graduated from Deming High School in 1954. He began his 30-year career with El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1956. Peter C. Bauer, 87, passed away January 13, 2024, with his family by his side. Pete was born in Deming, NM, December 17, 1936, to Peter and Fannye Allison Bauer. Pete, an only child, grew up in Deming and graduated from Deming High School in 1954. He began his 30-year career with El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1956. In May of 1957 he married “His Texan” as he called her, Garcille Wright. They made their home in the Farmington area, where their son Paul was born, until 1991 when they moved to Las Cruces.
Pete loved fishing, golfing, dancing, RVing, baseball, basketball, and water skiing. He was an avid NMSU Aggie basketball fan. But most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed taking long trips in his RV and spending summers in Colorado. He made friends easily and always enjoyed being with them. He stayed especially close to 4 of his boyhood friends he grew up with.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Garcille, his son Paul and wife Kathy, grandsons Cameron and wife Abby, and Colten, his sister-in-law, Wanda Howell, 3 nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother-in-law, Joe Howell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice or your favorite charity.
Memorial services to be held, Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM.
