Peter Joseph McGrath (Pete), 59, of Las Cruces, died Sept. 13, 2011. He was born March 19, 1952 in New York, NY to Peter and Kathleen Stuart McGrath. Pete had been a firefighter with more than 18 years of faithful service at NASA and he was also a Police Officer with the Las Cruces Police Department for 3 years. Peter Joseph McGrath (Pete), 59, of Las Cruces, died Sept. 13, 2011. He was born March 19, 1952 in New York, NY to Peter and Kathleen Stuart McGrath. Pete had been a firefighter with more than 18 years of faithful service at NASA and he was also a Police Officer with the Las Cruces Police Department for 3 years. Pete had been general manager of Burger Time for 12 years and very involved with the Sandra B McGrath Burger Time Golf Tournament. Pete enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golfing and Nascar. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Darlina McGrath of the family home ; mother Kay McGrath; brother Kevin McGrath; sister Kathy Gonzales and her husband Hubert; sister Sharon Wagner and her husband Floyd and by his brother-in-law and best friend Richard Garcia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his dad Peter; sister Patty McGrath; and sister-n-law Sandra Butler McGrath. A prayer vigil will be prayed at 7 pm on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at the Basilica of San Albino. His memorial mass will be at 10 am on Monday Sept. 19, 2011 also at the Basilica with Fr. Richard Catanach officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Basilica of San Albino. PDF Printable Version
