Phyllis E. Curtis, of Las Cruces passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 after a full and wonderful life of 96 years. Phyllis (Bee as her family knew her) was born to Robert Holgate and Bernice DeShazo. She attended West Texas State University and assumed a teaching career in Forrest, NM. There she met and married local farmer and rancher- D.W. Curtis, (lucky man). When asked what was the most important thing he ever did in his life he replied. "I married an angel". Together they had five children. Bee retired from teaching and enjoyed traveling and visiting her family. She was an avid swimmer and all-around athlete. Her ever-smiling attitude and sense of humor will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years D.W. Curtis. She is survived by 1 sister May Hines of southern California, 2 sons and 3 daughters, Bob and Mary Curtis, Bill and Carroll Curtis, Dee and William Mueller, Orial and Harold Madron, and Betty Dutchover, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Graveside Service's for Phyllis will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Masonic Cemetery, 760 Compress Rd. PDF Printable Version
