Rafaela "Fela" Ruiz, age 80 passed away peacefully on August 9, 2014 at her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. Fela as she was fondly known to family and friends was born on January 17, 1934 to Zacharias and Fabian Hernandez in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua Mexico. Rafaela "Fela" Ruiz, age 80 passed away peacefully on August 9, 2014 at her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. Fela as she was fondly known to family and friends was born on January 17, 1934 to Zacharias and Fabian Hernandez in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua Mexico. She devoted herself to help her family in every way she could. Fela married Manuel Ruiz Sr. on September 12, 1956 in El Paso, Texas. Together they had 7 children, her greatest achievements, especially her gifted son Ricardo. She is survived by her four sons of Las Cruces; Joe, Ricardo, Danny and Manny Ruiz Jr. and wife Patty, and three daughters; Chole Ruiz, Faby and husband Larry Raught, and Pat Vega. Her grandchildren; Megan, Amanda, Alex and Monica Ruiz, Chayna Holguin, Ashley Tirre, Hannahlee Hermosillo and husband Gabe, Abigale Gonzalez, Summer Lucero, Orlando Melon and Angel Ruiz, Fabrina, Sabrina, Christina Raught, Manuel III Ruiz, Patrick Jr. Vega and Julian D. Vega. She is also survived by 16 loving great-grandchildren and step-children Raymond and John Ruiz and wife Cindy, Rose Randolph, Margaret Najera and husband Ernest, Bernie Garcia and husband Richard. Fela was also blessed with 32 step-grandchildren, 23 step great-grandchildren and 10 step great great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Petrita Hernandez from El Paso, Texas. Pallbearers are Manny Ruiz Jr., Larry Raught, Patrick Vega Jr., Julian D. Vega, Jesse Garcia and Oscar Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Harmenio Vigil and Daniel Jake Sambrano. On behalf of the entire family; "A special thank you for our brother Danny for helping us watch over and care for Mom, both day and night."
