Ralph C. Barela, 75, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008. He was born March 7, 1933 in Dona Ana, NM to Daniel and Celia Barela. Ralph was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served honorably during the Korean Conflict. After faithful service to his country he went to work for WSMR, retiring after 35 years of loyal service. Ralph C. Barela, 75, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008. He was born March 7, 1933 in Dona Ana, NM to Daniel and Celia Barela. Ralph was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served honorably during the Korean Conflict. After faithful service to his country he went to work for WSMR, retiring after 35 years of loyal service. Ralph had a love for the outdoors, hunting, horseback riding and reading but his passion was for his beautiful family. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Esmeralda Barela of the family home; son Ralph Barela Jr and wife Joanne of South Carolina; daughters Nola Barela of Las Cruces, Trina Barela of Roswell, NM, Selina DeSantiago and husband Joe of Las Cruces, Regina Felker and husband Wayne of Ft. Worth, TX and Hildina Maynard and husband David of Georgia. Also surviving him are 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be at 6:00 PM on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at Calvary Chapel with Pastor's Bob Ortega and Rick Kiscadon officiating. The DEVIL DOGS of Las Cruces will provide military honors. Burial of his cremains will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at a later date. PDF Printable Version
