Ramiro Ramirez Ramos, 57, lifelong resident of La Mesa, NM was called to heaven Sunday, March 27, 2005. He was born June 2, 1947 in Mesquite, NM to the late Hilario and Anita Ramos. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Ramos was near retirement from White Sands Missile Range in the Motion, Picture and Reproduction Department. He was a devout Catholic with the San Jose Catholic Parrish; he was also a fond member of the Anthony Lions Club and Leo's Club. Ramiro was a devoted husband, an awesome dad and a fun loving grandfather. He was always very involved in his children's extracurricular activities. He loved the outdoors, working on his farm and playing with his granddaughter. He was very involved with his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand, he was known to many as "COACH". Ramiro is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Eloisa Sanchez Ramos of the family home; daughter Erica Ramos-Avitia and husband Mark; son Roman Ramos; daughter Donna Tolin and husband Jack and youngest daughter Crystal Ramos; brothers Hilario Ramos and wife Beatrice and Robert Juan Lujan and wife Terry and by numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the joy of his life, his only granddaughter Izabela Avitia. A visitation will be held today Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 5 to 6 PM at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow at 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church in La Mesa, NM. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2005 also at San Jose with Fr. Ruben Romero officiating. Rite of Committal will be at the Las Mesa Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Frank Sloan, Luis Segura, Ruben Soto, Juan Najera, Cruz Talavera and Johnny Holguin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Saenz, Jaime Medina and the Anthony Lions Club.
