Ramon S. Cordero, 79, of Las Cruces, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. He was born September 11, 1926 in Las Cruces to Jose Maria and Aurora Solis Cordero. Ramon was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. He was also a retired Heavy Equipment Operator from WSMR. Ramon S. Cordero, 79, of Las Cruces, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. He was born September 11, 1926 in Las Cruces to Jose Maria and Aurora Solis Cordero. Ramon was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. He was also a retired Heavy Equipment Operator from WSMR. Ramon was a member of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church and he loved the outdoors but his passion was watching westerns. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Margaret Cordero of the family home; son David Cordero and Sandra of Las Cruces; daughters Terry Cordero and Tony of Las Cruces and Connie Herrera of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Phillip, Loretta, Mando and Linda; great-granddaughters Alisha and Corina and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ramon was preceded in death by his brother Ricardo Cordero and by his sister Maria Rodriguez. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, June 26, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. The funeral mass is at 9 AM on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
