Ramon S. Sanchez, 81, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday September 5, 2006. He was born April 14, 1925 in Rocky Ford, CO to Jose and Nicanora Sanchez. Ramon was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. Ramon S. Sanchez, 81, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday September 5, 2006. He was born April 14, 1925 in Rocky Ford, CO to Jose and Nicanora Sanchez. Ramon was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. While in service to our country he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Philippine Independence Ribbon. He loved the outdoors, hunting, sports but especially Aggie Basketball. Mr. Sanchez will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. His daughter Rosa Maria Sanchez of Juarez, Mexico; brother Jesus Sanchez and wife Luz and his sister Amparo Frias of all of Las Cruces survive Ramon. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins. His wife and infant son preceded him in death. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday September 11, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The funeral Mass is at 10:00 AM on Tuesday September 12, 2006 also at Holy Cross with Fr. Ray Flores officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be members of Ramon's family. PDF Printable Version
