Ramona C. Lucero, 87,of Brazito, NM died Wednesday, May 14, 2008. "Grandma Mona" as she was fondly called was born Aug. 4, 1920 in Dona Ana, NM to Amado and Mariana Lujan Carbajal. She was a baseball fan who loved the L.A. Dodgers, her trips to the casinos and she took pride in making rosaries, but her passion was for her family. Grandma Mona will be deeply missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons Margarito Lucero and wife Socorro of La Mesa, NM and Richard Lucero and wife Lidia of Las Cruces; daughters Mary Ann Benavidez, Mary Jane Jimenez and husband Jose and Bertha Lucero all of Brazito, NM; sister Maggie Enriquez of Scottsdale, AZ; 12 grandchildren Terri, Ray Jr., Melissa, Martin, Anna, Lena, Tony, Joe Jr., Rosie, Richard Jr., John Jr., and Franco; 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Grandma Mona was preceded in death by her loving husband Tony H. Lucero, 2 brothers Pete and Manuel Carbajal, sister MaryLou Carbajal and by son-in-law Ray Benavidez. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be at 10 AM on Monday, May 19, 2008 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Virgilio Flores officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandma Mona's grandsons. PDF Printable Version
