Randy Melendrez, 36 of Dona Ana, NM entered eternal life Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Randy was born August 20, 1971 in Cubi Point, Philippines to James and Nelda Melendrez. He was a chef at several restaurants in both Las Cruces and Denver and was a member of the Catholic Church. Randy Melendrez, 36 of Dona Ana, NM entered eternal life Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Randy was born August 20, 1971 in Cubi Point, Philippines to James and Nelda Melendrez. He was a chef at several restaurants in both Las Cruces and Denver and was a member of the Catholic Church. Randy is survived by his two daughters, Cassandra Melendrez and Merrissa Melendrez both of Dona Ana, NM; his parents, James Melendrez of Las Cruces and Nelda Melendrez of Dona Ana; two brothers, Mike Melendrez and wife Victoria and Danny Melendrez all of Dona Ana; one sister, Honey Melendrez of Las Cruces; and his paternal step grandmother, Elva Melendrez. Also surviving Randy are three grandchildren, Phabian Hall, Eliajah Melendrez, and Ayanna Garcia; seven nieces and nephews, Shaniece, Junior, Sean, Joseph, Daniel, Joiree, and Julian and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven and Gary Lee; and his paternal grandfather, Jimbo Melendrez and paternal grandmother and step grandfather, Cleo Garcia and husband Ray and maternal grandparents, Catalino and Anatalita Apao. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday, July 7, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Our Lady of Purification in Dona Ana. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at the Dona Ana Cemetery. Officiating will Rev. Miguel Macaya. Serving, as pallbearers will be AJ and Andy Melendrez, Carl DeLaO; Ruben Barela, Matthew Saenz, and Anthony Zamora.
