Raymundo C. Ramos 87 of Las Cruces passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, June 11, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1920 to Librado and Maria Calderon Ramos of Las Cruces. Fondly known as "Mundo" he enlisted in the United States Army, January 20, 1942. Served with the 255th infantry in Central Europe during WW II. While serving his country was awarded the American Defense Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead Medal and was honorably discharged on October 7, 1945. His carpentry career began at New Mexico State University in March of 1946 he also worked with various construction companies at WSMR and NASA Space Center. Mundo belonged to the New Mexico District Council of Carpenters for over 38 years. Mundo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Juanita Ramos and son Albert of the family home; son John and his wife Tressa of Ruidoso, NM and granddaughters Ariana, Simona, Monique, and Kristy, grandson Arturo Ramos Jr. and granddaughters Denise Ramos and Stephanie Hernandez, his great-grandchildren. Mundo is also survived by sisters Margarita Jerome of Las Cruces, Dolores Gomez of Ruidoso and his niece Mary Lou Amesquite of Las cruces and nephew Oscar Delgado of Columbus, Ohio and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Arturo Ramos. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday June 14, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow the same evening at 7 PM also in the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass will be given Friday at 2 PM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. The rite of committal will follow at the Masonic Cemetery with full Military Honors. Officiating will be Fr. Sean Garrity. Pallbearers will be Arturo Ramos Jr., Eddie Flores, Sammy Flores, Audres Gomez, Alberto Ruiz, and Abel Guzman. PDF Printable Version
