Rene M. McLane 63 of Deming, NM died Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Lubbock, Texas. Rene was born September 25, 1942 in El Paso, Texas to Seth and Marie McLane. He attended Burgess High School in El Paso, graduated as Valedictorian and was an all around athlete. Upon graduation he attended UTEP. Rene served his country in the US Navy for eight years and worked for and retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2003. An avid golfer Rene loved to watch his grandchildren and be a part of their lives. He was interested in the well being of youngsters and was a Little League coach. Being very community oriented, he had served as Chief Quaker for the Great American Duck Races, had a love for horses and was Treasurer for the Deming Saddle Club. Rene was a 3rd degree Mason and Shriner and was very active in the process of transporting children to the Shriners Hospital. He was also a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Rene is survived by his wife Teresa McLane of the family home, his mother Marie McLane; Two daughters, Susan Petroski and her husband Glenn; and Michelle Nunn and her husband Justin; and one son, Gregory "Beau" Hand and his wife Jennifer. Also surviving Rene are his beloved four grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 400 South Ruby, where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 5:30. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 2:30 PM on Wednesday June 28, 2006 also at St, Ann's Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Catanach. Serving, as pallbearers will be Eddie Mesa, Jr., David Baeza, Dr. Reymundo A. Molina, Dr. Robert A. Molina, Craig Hughes, and Tomas Casillas. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Porcher, DeLloyd Haynes, Tommy Perez, Jerry Montes, Edward Khanbabaian, and Roger Clark. PDF Printable Version
