Richard B. Hilts, 80, of Las Cruces, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 peacefully at home. He was born July 20, 1925 in Binghamton, NY to Clyde and Mamie Hilts. Richard was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II as a Staff Sergeant, while serving his country he was awarded the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. Upon returning to the states he attended Eastman School of Music. He was a Professor of Music until retiring in 1983. He along with his loving wife Marilyn who preceded him in death, loved to travel all over the world together and enjoying the company of people and their various cultures. Mr. Hilts will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and love him. He is survived by his two sons Derek Hilts and his wife Kathy of Sacramento, CA and Kevin Hilts of Las Cruces and by two grandchildren Alexander and Natalie. Richard will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Marilyn at Santa Fe National Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
