Richard E. Hood, 60, Las Cruces resident for the last two years, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 surrounded by his loving family at home. Richard E. Hood, 60, Las Cruces resident for the last two years, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born Sept. 4, 1944 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Harold and Geneva Short Hood. Although Richard grew up in Illinois he lived most of his life out west. He was an avid golfer but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Norma Hood of the family home; children Todd Hood and wife Tammy of Castle Rock, CO, Melinda Garcia and husband Fred of San Diego, CA and Tera Barr and husband Stephan of Las Vegas, NV; three wonderful grandchildren Caylee, Kendall and Allie; brother Harold Hood and wife Diane of Naples, FLA; sister Patsy Stone and husband Jack of Marion, ILL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Carol.
