Richard L. Rudd, 91 a resident of Las Cruces, NM, entered eternal rest Thursday December 28, 2023, surrounded by family. Born March 2nd, 1932, in Springerville, Arizona, his father was a sheriff and his mother was a homemaker. He was the youngest boy in a family of 8 siblings. His family later relocated to Gallup, New Mexico, where he attended high school and made many lifelong friends. After graduation he went on to join the Navy, after his stint in the Navy, he proceeded to study electrical engineering at the University of New Mexico. Upon graduation he was employed in his field at the PSL at NMSU.

This position entailed tracking satellites. During his time at PSL he had to travel to many different places in the world. Back in that day the computers he worked with took up a whole room, which was always conversational. At each job site he was in charge. He would mentor students and employees. This eventually earned him the nickname of "head moon man".

Although he traveled a lot, he eventually started a family and settled down in Las Cruces.

Richard had two daughters, Debbie and De-De, who due to his profession were able to share in the travel experience and discover new things.

He also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed, taking care of his vehicles, golf, reading and crossword puzzles as hobbies. However, his greatest passion and love was always his family. He loved to be around all his family members. He attended and participated in all gatherings, visits, and activities that his family members did. Always very caring and supportive of all his family… He was a great man, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.
