Richard N. Parish (Dick) went home in the arms of our heavenly father on November 3, 2017. Richard was born on February 15, 1936, the son of Leroy I. Parish and Marie M. Parish (Myers) of Edinburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by his parents and all six of his siblings. Richard was a decorated Veteran of the United States Air Force from 1954 - 1974. Serving both in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, he was proud to have served his country. Richard was a member of First Baptist Church for twenty years. He was a greeter for church services and other church functions. He often spoke of how blessed he felt because it gave him the opportunity to welcome old friends and meet new ones. Richard was a loving, kind and giving man with an outgoing personality, he loved everyone he met and they loved him. He loved life, being with his family and friends, but first and foremost he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the fellowship and competition of fellow church members, family, and friends. He organized several golf tournaments to raise funds for church functions. Richard was quick to inform any and all players he was the competition! Richard is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Katherine S. Parish of Las Cruces, NM, his Sons: Richard Leroy Parish of Norman, OK and Ron Davis (Marcy) of Las Cruces, NM and Daughters: Julie (Davis) Basile (Bob) of Las Cruces, NM and Suzanne (Parish) Fleming (Lonnie) of Portland OR. Five grandsons: Spencer Parish (Magen) of Conroe, TX, and Christopher (Sara), Brian, Varnum (Leslie) and Richard (Amy) Fleming of Portland, OR. Four Granddaughters: Crystal Davis of Land O Lakes, FL, Brooke (Davis) Lockridge (Dustin), of Las Cruces, NM, Courtney McVay (Jeremy) and Cristin Weldon of Las Cruces. Eleven great-grandchildren: Hank Lockridge, Jacob and Jessie McVay, William and Matthew Mehan, and Serenity, Destiny, Alyssa, Evalynn, Kaden, Ethan, Jazmyne Fleming. Services will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at First Baptist Church 106 S. Miranda Las Cruces, NM at 10:00 am. Dr. Frank Zamora will officiate the ceremony. Pallbearers will be: Bob Mitchell, Barry Pharl, Arty Chavez, Doug Wendling, Bob Barron, and Larry Lynch. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Reception to follow at First Baptist Church all are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard Parish's life. In lieu of flowers please send donations to First Baptist Church 106 S.
