Richard S. Johnson, 76, of Las Cruces, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007. He was born April 2, 1931 in Las Cruces to Richard and Marcelina Sandoval Johnson. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably. Richard was also retired from the NM State Highway Dept. as a heavy equipment operator. Richard S. Johnson, 76, of Las Cruces, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007. He was born April 2, 1931 in Las Cruces to Richard and Marcelina Sandoval Johnson. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably. Richard was also retired from the NM State Highway Dept. as a heavy equipment operator. He had a passion for woodworking and his family. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons Robert Johnson and wife Priscilla of Winston-Salem, NC, Dennis V. Johnson and wife Mary of Sacramento, CA, Johnny Johnson and Joseph Johnson and wife Connie all of Las Cruces; daughter Cindy Johnson of Phoenix, AZ and sister Stella Esquivel of Barstow, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His loving wife Eva preceded Richard in death. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
