Richard Matta Telles, 69, of Las Cruces, entered eternal rest February 4, 2018, Super Bowl Sunday. I was born February 5, 1948 to Jose and Dora Telles, in Las Cruces, NM. We lived here all of our lives. I had one brother, Art, whom I will always admire for his amazing work ethic. He got that from my dad, and I got my stubbornness and different ways of doing things from my mother. I don't believe any books will be written about me or movies made based on my life, because I never did anything of notoriety. However, I managed to achieve many of the common things in life that we all strive for. I married a good looking, fine woman, Lidia, and had two wonderful children, Richard Matthew and Frances Adelina. My kids will be my legacy. I will remember them for their passions in everything they pursue, work for, love and hate. I was able to provide my family with a home, education and love. I did this through higher education, a steady job and retirement. I really enjoyed sporting events, whether they be local or professional, especially MMA and boxing. I was fortunate to have made numerous good friends and not quite as many enemies. I would like to thank them all for the good times we had. You know who you are. Do not be sad, for I have embarked on a new journey and today I'm kicking up my heels, rejoicing with my arms up high; which is something I haven't done in a while. I am preceded in death by my mother and father, Dora M. and Jose F. Telles; joining them to celebrate what would have been my Seventieth birthday. I am survived by my brother, Art Telles and wife Glenna of Anthony, NM, son Richard Matthew Telles aka "MUNCH" of Albuquerque, NM, daughter Frances Adelina Telles of Las Cruces, NM , mother of my children Lidia Telles of Las Cruces, NM, and grandson Richard Malachi Telles aka "TRES" of Albuquerque, NM, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and good friends. My rosary will be held at 6 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial mass in my honor, will be held at 1 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. A reception will follow at Finley Hall, 1240 S. Espina. Service Information
