Robert C. Mersereau, 81, of Las Cruces died March 12, 2007. Robert was born January 4, 1926 in Stanten Island, NY to Clayton and Ann Mersereau. He was a man that truly loved his family and his country. Robert joined the Navy in 1943, at age 17, where he served honorably for 37 years. Robert C. Mersereau, 81, of Las Cruces died March 12, 2007. Robert was born January 4, 1926 in Stanten Island, NY to Clayton and Ann Mersereau. He was a man that truly loved his family and his country. Robert joined the Navy in 1943, at age 17, where he served honorably for 37 years. His last duty station for the Navy was serving LLS1 at White Sands as Master Chief Gunners Mate. After retirement Robert was an active member of the VFW post 2604 in Las Cruces. He also continued his military carrier by providing the army with technical services. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Betty of 60 years, Two daughters, Judith A. Mersereau, of Albuquerque, NM, Denise R. Whitmire, of Santa Rosa, CA, four grandchildren, Delaney Gehrke, Jessica Lund, Josie R. Baker, Jason S. Whitmire, and three great-grandchildren Austin, Conner, and Alijah. He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Ann Mersereau, and one daughter Linda K. Mersereau. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial and Military honors to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
