Robert L. Garms, 87, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday January 25, 2006 at his home. He was born December 9, 1918 in Winchell, TX to George and Lanora Garms. He was a member of the Ruidoso Baptist Church and the Mountain View Baptist Church in Las Cruces. Robert severed his Country in the United States Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy. Robert L. Garms, 87, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday January 25, 2006 at his home. He was born December 9, 1918 in Winchell, TX to George and Lanora Garms. He was a member of the Ruidoso Baptist Church and the Mountain View Baptist Church in Las Cruces. Robert severed his Country in the United States Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy. He continued his work with the US Government through Civil Service as the Roads and Grounds Forman at Ft. Bliss. Robert was a small business owner and had places in Ruidoso and Las Cruces, NM. He loved the outdoors, especially when fishing or doing his woodcarvings. The lessons of life that Robert has taught his family will always be remembered and passed down through future generations, he will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rose, two sons; Oliver L. Garms and Gene P. Garms and wife Gean of Ruidoso, NM one daughter; Tyline "Ty" Bundick and her husband Buddy of Las Cruces, Nm. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Laura McDonough, Rodney Bundick, Summer Cowger, Stephanye James, Brandon Garms and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday January 28, 2006 at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Harrigan of Mountain View Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert's name to Mesilla Valley Hospice 299 Montana Av Las Cruces, NM 88005 or to the Mountain View Baptist Church. PDF Printable Version
