Robert Lee Lancaster, 84, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009. He was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA to Richard and Bertha Lancaster. Robert was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. While in the service of he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Victory Medal and the Ribbon European African Middle Eastern Ribbon. He had worked for many years as an auto mechanic with Roark Chevrolet before opening his own garage. He also was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. Post #10124. Robert will be deeply missed by all is family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son Robert Reed Lancaster and wife Sherri of Katy, TX; daughters Tracy Rast and husband Tony of Carrollton, TX and Darla Wagner and husband Al of Lewisville, TX; brother Raymond Crothers and wife Louis of Tucson, AZ; sisters Gloria McGonigal of Las Cruces and Barbara Kitemiller of Houston, TX; grandchildren Erin, Karrie, Janna, Robyn, Trey, Lori and Matthew and by his great-grandson Jacob. Also surviving him are many close nieces and nephews. Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home with the V.F.W. officiating. Burial of his cremains will follow at 1 PM also on Tuesday at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. (Psalm 90) From everlasting to everlasting you are God. PDF Printable Version
