Robert (Bob) L. Grandle, 84, of Las Cruces, passed away on March 28, 2013 at The Heritage Assisted Living Center. He was born July 17, 1928 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Rolla Leon Grandle and Agnes V. Glades Grandle. Surviving members of his family include his children Steve Grandle of Las Cruces, Susan Grier and husband, Gary of Asheville, NC, and Jerry Grandle and wife, Susan of Las Cruces. He has five grandchildren, Matt, Jenny, John, Katie and Emily, and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Samantha, Wendy and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Grandle. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at The Heritage Assisted Living Center for their loving care. He served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (1950-53) during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star. He received two bachelor's degrees (Architectural Engineering and Business Administration) from Kansas State University. He was very active in the building community of Las Cruces. He and his wife, JoAnn, were partners in Dona Ana Development Co., Grandle Construction Company and Grandle-Kiser Construction. He served as president of the Las Cruces Home Builders Association and was designated Home Builder of the Year in 1973. He also served as president of the New Mexico National Home Builders Association and was designated NM State Home Builder of the Year in 1978. After retiring, he and JoAnn spent many happy years traveling and RV'ing across the country. His hobbies included extensive genealogy on Grandle and Stryker family histories and he enjoyed muzzle loading rifles and collecting antiques. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00pm Monday April 1, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3pm on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Parrish Associate Dr. Wayne Hawkins of First Presbyterian Church.
