Robert O'Dell

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Robert Alfonso O'Dell, (Rube, Bobby), age 82, on Friday, October 30, 2020. He was surrounded by this loving family. Robert was the son of Doug and Nettie O'Dell and was born in Lordsburg, NM, July 5, 1938. He had two siblings Melvin and Donna. He was married to the love of his life Beverly Janecka on June 10, 1961 in Deming, NM.



He was a loving and devoted father to Shelly Rodriguez (Carlo), Lisa Myers (Bill). He was the best "Dad", Grandpa to Amanda, Shane, Tara, and Gian Carlo. He is proceeded in death by his granddaughter, Tara. He also loved his great grandson Leighton.



Robert lived in Duncan, AZ when he was born and moved to Deming, NM where his mother owned the Greyhound bus depot and O'Dell Cafeteria. Robert graduated from Deming High School in 1957. Robert was an outstanding athlete and excelled at any sport he did. He received a scholarship to play football at NAU. He received many awards for his accomplishments and held state championships. He loved basketball, football, track, baseball, car racing, golfing, hunting, and fishing. Robert loved music, singing and dancing. Robert was a dedicated and loyal employee for El Paso Natural Gas for 40 years. After retirement he and his wife owned and operated a small business. Robert touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. All who knew him loved him and he brought joy and laughter into everyone's lives. He loved spending time in his cabin in Alpine, AZ watching the elk on his property. His greatest impact was his influence on daughters, grandchildren and many friends he had made during his lifetime. He is truly loved and will be dearly missed.
