Bobby "Redbone" Soto Redbone, as he was fondly known by his loved ones, was born on June 29th, 1952 and entered the eternal Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. Bobby is survived by Betty (Belen) Soto, his loving wife of 34 years; his loving son, Robert (Bob) Soto; his loving daughter, Kristy Molina; son-in-law, Jason Molina, and his two most-treasured grandsons, Jaeden and Devan Molina; his mother, Maria Soto; sister, Sylvia Soto; two brothers, Gonzalo (Emma) and Raul Soto, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gonzalo Soto, and his brother, Richard Soto. Having been born and raised in Mesilla, New Mexico, he was a true Mesillero. Bobby was a lifelong Catholic, and some of his favorite past times were praying daily with his grandson, Jaeden, and golfing. Bobby also had a true love and passion for helping and influencing the youth of Las Cruces. He coached the Willie Mays Braves for over 25 years. He also coached youth basketball and bantam weight football. During his lifetime, Bobby created many, many lifelong friendships of which he truly treasured. Bobby worked his way up at the City of Las Cruces, retiring as Superintendent of the Water Department at the age of 49. To have known Redbone was to have loved him. Bobby lived life to the fullest and gave all his time and love to his grandsons. He was the prime example of a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral on Friday, May 11th, 2018. Rosary will commence at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Honoring us with his presence and officiating the services will be Bishop Ricardo Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers begin with Bobby's golf buddies whom he adored, Bobby Lujan, Joel Carrillo, Tony Fierro, Henry Apodaca and Kent Wingenroth. Additional honorary pallbearers include Uncle Ray Ortiz, Oscar Ledesma, Richard Leyba, Steve Ortiz, Rudy Rey Ortiz, John Mendes, Dan Rosales, Jaime Mendes, Javier Rosales, Danny Montoya, Mando Montoya, Michael Alvarez, Andy Zapien, Jr., Angel Zapien, JJ Soto, David Paul Soto, Daniel Alvarez, Isaac Avalos, Brandon Ramos and Daniel Herrera.
