Robert Vernon Wesley, 77, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008. "Grandpa Charlie" as his two granddaughters Kirsten and Kori lovingly called him was born July 11, 1930 in Liberty, KY to Jason and Martha Benson Wesley. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the US Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict; retiring as a senior instructor for a missile school. Robert had a love of carpentry, working with wood and watching movies. He was better known around the Mesilla Valley as owner/operator of Mr. Scott's Appliance. He was always a pioneer in electronic technology, bringing the latest innovations to his customers in Las Cruces and the surrounding communities. He was highly respected by his customers for his integrity and honesty. He met the love of his life at a group picnic along the Rio Grande; falling for the girl dancing the hula on the table. The best day of his life was December 5, 1953, when he married his loving wife Helen. He will be forever missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him.
