Robert Wayne Sledge, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with our Lord on December 4, 2008. Bob was born in Ralls, Texas on April 18, 1931. His family moved to Merkel, Texas in 1936. He was graduated from Merkel High School in 1948. He attended John Tarlton Agricultural College on a basketball scholarship before entering the Air Force in 1950 and was discharged in 1954. Bob went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Co. where he first worked as a "roustabout". He retired after 32 years as one of the company's Gas Supply Directors. Upon retirement, he moved to San Angelo, Texas, and more recently in 2007, to Las Cruces, New Mexico. His summer home of 20 years was Cloudcroft, New Mexico, where he loved to golf and enjoyed friends in the mountains. Bob was a member of Cloudcroft United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jackie Sledge; sons and daughter, Rick Sledge, and wife Erin, of Huntsville, Texas, Randy Sledge, and wife Julie, of Coppell, Texas, Steven Davis, and wife Kim, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christen Garb, and husband Dave, of San Ramon, California; 10 grandchildren, Brigitte Sledge, Tanner, Tate and Trey Sledge, Erin, Jacob, Meagan and Jon Davis, Grady and Phoenix Garb; his brother, Jim Sledge, and wife Darla, of North Richland Hills, Texas, nephews Brad Sledge of Flower Mound, Texas and Thom Sledge of North Richland Hills, and other extended family. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home. Interment for Robert Sledge will be December 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Las Cruces followed by a memorial service at Cloudcroft United Methodist Church in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Cloudcroft United Methodist Church, P.O.
