Rockwell "Rocky" Joseph Melendrez of Las Cruces went into the arms of our Lord Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at the Mesilla Valley Hospice after a brief illness. Rocky was able to make it home by the grace of God. He was surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly. He was born June 2nd, 1964 in El Paso, Texas. He called Las Cruces, New Mexico his home. Rocky had been a resident of Portland, Oregon for the last nine years. Rocky was so happy to be back in as Cruces, a place he called home. Rocky loved his Organ Mountains, to him that meant that he was home. He was so excited to see how much his city had grown since he had left, he had wanted to ride on his motorcycle to Scenic View and see the sunset. Rocky wasn't able to do those things as his illness over took him so quickly. Rocky loved riding his motorcycle around Organ's scenic areas on his time off. Rocky was a truck driver for an auto parts company and a self proclaimed computer nerd. He was quick to lend his expertise to others needing help with computers.
