Ronald C. Fronczek

Dr. Ronald Chester Fronczek, 63, of Las Cruces died Sunday March 6, 2011. Ron as he was fondly known was born Oct. 5, 1947 to Chester and Anna McAnelly in Lake Charles, LA. He grew up in Westlake, LA, graduating from Westlake High School in 1965. He studied physics at Louisiana State University, earning a B.S. in 1969. He attended the University of Washington, Seattle and completed a M.S. degree in physics in 1970. Ron then served our country honorably in the Army, working in a laboratory developing night technology during the Vietnam Era. After his military service he returned to graduate school in Optical Science at the University of Arizona, Tucson earning an M.S. Degree in Optics. He worked at White Sands Missile Range for 10 years, and then attended optometry school at the University of California, Berkley, earning his degree in 1991. He practiced optometry in Albuquerque, NM and then opened his private practice in 1995 in Las Cruces until the time of his death. Ron was an Eagle Scout and an avid bicyclist and amateur astronomer. He was preceded in death by his father Chester Fronczek. Surviving him is his loving wife of 25 years Carol Coen Fronczek of the family home; former wife Beverly Singleman of Las Cruces; two children Kathy Burnett and husband Pat and Joe Fronczek; mother Anna McAnelly Fronczek Strait and husband John; grandchildren Ethan, Reid and Jordan; step-children Susan Feltner and husband John, Bruce and Kevin Anglin; step-grandchildren Chelsey, Cailin, Cody, Preston and Cameron; brothers Frank Fronczek and wife Rosalind and Bill Fronczek and wife Cynthia; mother-in-law Laura Coen and by nieces and nephews Phillip and Lara Jorge Fronczek, Jennifer and Christopher Fronczek. Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be at 2 pm on Friday March 11, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Whitley of New Heights Faith Community Church officiating.
