Ronald Paul Creek, 63, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 22, 1948, to Paul and Barbara Durham Creek. Ron worked in the insurance industry more than 30 years. He also served as a church business administrator, giving freely of his time, expertise, and wise counsel. Throughout his life, Ron was affiliated with Baptist churches and was widely respected as a faithful servant. After graduating in1966 from Wink (Texas) High School, in 1970 Ron completed a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University. Ron enjoyed athletics and in high school played football, basketball, tennis, and baseball. Exposed to music at an early age, Ron developed his natural ability and as a result played a baritone in the school band and sang in church choirs. Ron's family was his passion. He loved being part of a large, extended family, took great pride in it, and enjoyed immensely its fun-loving camaraderie. Ron's dry sense of humor evoked a lot of laughter over the years. For example, he frequently referred to the family tree as sometimes being a bush. Ron leaves a rich legacy of laughter and love and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Ann (Cobb) Creek; two daughters, Tamara Nan Pierce and husband Mike of McKinney, TX, and Elizabeth (Beth) Denise Brooks and husband Mike of Las Cruces; father Paul Creek and stepmother, Mary; his sister, Carolyn Holder and niece and nephew, Jenna and Lee Holder; and grandchildren Mikey, Megan, Jacob and Emma. Ron was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Creek. Memorial Services to celebrate Ronald Paul Creek's life will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating.
