Rosa Apodaca, 79, of Tortugas, NM died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007. She was born Nov. 25, 1927 in Tortugas, NM to Felipe and Angelita Pedraza Carabajal. Rosa was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a Tribal Member of the Ysleta de Sur. She loved to bake, but her passion was her family. Rosa Apodaca, 79, of Tortugas, NM died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007. She was born Nov. 25, 1927 in Tortugas, NM to Felipe and Angelita Pedraza Carabajal. Rosa was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a Tribal Member of the Ysleta de Sur. She loved to bake, but her passion was her family. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends who knew and loved her. Mrs. Apodaca is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Manuel Apodaca of the family home; sons Alan "Chato" Apodaca and wife Anna of Raton, NM and Manuel Apodaca Jr and wife Margarita of El Paso, TX; daughters Maria Apodaca of Tortugas, NM, Tessie and Margarita Apodaca both of Las Cruces; brothers Joe Carabajal of San Jose, CA and Lupe Carabajal of Vado, NM; sisters Ernestina Carabajal of Las Cruces, Fermina Paz and husband Frank, Carolina Carabajal, Alvina Carabajal and Margarita Lazos all of Tortugas, NM. Rosa is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Carmen Orta. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, Jan.8, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. Her funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery.
