Rosie Dell Mintz, a longtime resident of Las Cruces, died Wednesday June 8, 2011, the same day she was born 75 years before. Momma as she was fondly known was raised in Grapeland, TX. Rosie was the daughter of Rosie Lee Jones and Tallie Fletcher. After graduating from W. R. Banks High School and briefly attending college, Rosie came to New Mexico in 1957. She worked in various capacities in the community, including employment at New Mexico State University and Lubys. She worked at L'eggs's hosiery (Sara Lee) until her retirement in 1995. At L'eggs, she received various awards for her punctual attendance and job performance. After her retirement, Rosie helped care for her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Debbie Mintz-Ortiz, Gwen Mintz, Gail Mintz, Ralph Mintz all of Las Cruces, and Tracy Rivera of Puerto Rico; sons-in-law, Tim Ortiz and Miguel Rivera; daughter-in-law, Michelle Mintz; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Val Fletcher of California, Tallie M. Fletcher, Gerald Fletcher and Argell Fletcher, all of Texas; sisters Wardaleen Belvin and Floydia Phillips, also of Texas; sister-in-laws, Mayrine Fielder, Jeannette Mintz, Virginia Zimmerman, Vera Fletcher, Gwen Fletcher, Annie Pearl Fletcher and Martha Fletcher; brother-in-laws Edd Wesley Phillips and David Mintz and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James Mintz, Jr., her parents; her son Rory Lee Mintz; brother Elvin Wilson and sister Bennie Fae Humphries. Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial to celebrate her life will be held at 10 am on Saturday June 25, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
