Roy L. Lashway died of natural causes on May 14, 2014, at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born on April 5, 1931, in Standford, Montana (MT), to Joseph C. and Zelma H. Lashway. Roy lived in Standford until 1941, when the family moved to Great Falls, MT. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1949. Roy served in United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. Upon discharge from the Navy he returned to Montana, and enrolled at Montana State University (MSU) (then known as Montana State College), in Bozeman, MT. During his university years Roy was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. An association he continued after graduating. At the end of his junior year, Roy became the Assistant Director of the Student Union (a campus community center). He graduated from MSU in 1959 with an accounting degree. In 1975, he earned a MS degree in Educational Psychology, from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Roy left MSU in 1965, taking the job as Director of the Centennial Student Union at Minnesota State University, Mankato (then known as Mankato State College), in Mankato, Minnesota. In 1976, he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, becoming Director of Auxiliary Services at New Mexico State University. In this job he was responsible for the operations of Student Housing, Corbett Center Student Union, the campus bookstore, food services and Pan American Center. He retired in 1993. In 1956, while working a summer job at the Montana State Fair in Great Falls, Roy met Zelma Louise Haugen. Zelma was also working at the Fair, during her summer break from college. They were married a year later, on September 14, 1957. Their first son Calvin was born in March 1959, with their second son, Clin born in April 1961. Roy is survived by his wife Zelma; sons: Calvin Lashway, and Clin Lashway (Paulette); granddaughters: Stephanie Lashway and Nicole Lashway; sibling: Joseph Lashway (Betty), Donald Lashway (Mary), Judy Kuntz, Danny Lashway (Sheryll), and sister-in-law Greta Murray. Roy is preceded in death by his parent's Joseph C. and Zelma H. Lashway; siblings: Duane Lashway, Zelma Mital, and Loreen Jackson; in-laws, Grant and Grace Haugen; and brother-in-law, Jack Murray.
