Roy Livingston Rolle passed away on October 4, 2018 at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family. Roy Livingston Rolle was born on December 14, 1930 to Horace and Lucinda Rolle I n Exuma/ The Bahamas. He worked many years as a parts manager for a major washing machine/refrigerator company in Miami, Florida before moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1999. It was in Miami, Florida that he met and later married Sandra Lee Scott. A few years after they were married, they were blessed with their son, David. In Miami, Roy and Sandra became members of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Roy served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years at Mount Zion. Also, he served the youth of the church as their troop leader for Boy Scouts of America for many years. When Roy retired as a parts manager, and Sandra retired as a public-school teacher, they decided to make the "big move" to Las Cruces to be with their son David. David was now married and starting his own family. When Roy and Sandra moved to Las Cruces, they made it permanent by buying a house. They were invited by one of their neighbors to visit First Baptist Church. It wasn't long before they became members. Roy became a member of First Baptist (FBC) Deacon Board. He taught an FBC Senior Adult Bible class and joined the adult and sanctuary choirs. He was invited to a Gideons International Membership Dinner, and he became a serving member. He sang many years in the Living Christmas Tree performance at FBC. Roy is survived by his wife, Sandra, son, David and his wife Blanca; by grandchildren Jasmine and Marcus, and by his nieces and nephews of Florida, Carolina, and Texas. He also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Jenniemae Rolle and Gwendolyn Rolle. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Monday, October 8, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 106 Miranda St., Las Cruces, NM 88005, with Pastor David Borrows officiating.
