Ruth K. Widmer, 89, Las Cruces resident since 1959 died Thursday, June 3, 2010. She was born July 19, 1920 in Everett, MA., to Leslie and Mary McQuaid Kendall. Ruth was a retired secretary from NMSU after many years of faithful service. Ruth K. Widmer, 89, Las Cruces resident since 1959 died Thursday, June 3, 2010. She was born July 19, 1920 in Everett, MA., to Leslie and Mary McQuaid Kendall. Ruth was a retired secretary from NMSU after many years of faithful service. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, a member of the Altar Society and the Telephone Pioneers; she enjoyed cooking, reading, crosswords, and music, especially the big bands. After the death of her husband Anthony J. Widmer in 1967 Ruth raised her five children. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two sons Michael Widmer of Albuquerque, NM and Steven Widmer of Las Cruces; three daughters Elizabeth Widmer and her husband Al Deubner of Las Cruces, Margaret Widmer-Hall and husband Doug of Las Cruces and Susanne Widmer of Albuquerque, NM and by her brother Leslie Kendall of Gloucester, MA. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and brother Richard Kendall. A prayer vigil will follow at 10:00 AM on June 7, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral and her funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM also at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Rite of Committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Ruth's family ask that donations be made in her name to Mesilla Valley Hospice, Inc. 299 E.
