SPC Oliver Manuel Oropeza of Lee's Summit, MO, died on June 8, 2006. He was born November 30, 1983, in Las Cruces, NM, the son of Jesus and Olaya Oropeza. Oliver was a graduated of Milan High School, Milan, Mo. He enlisted in the MO ARNG on Oct 1, 2003. He received his basic Training at Ft. Knox, KY and the attended the Motor Transportation operation Course at Ft. Bliss, TX. Upon graduation he was assigned as a Vehicle Driver for the 70th Troop Command, Centertown, MO, and then as a Heavy Vehicle Driver in DET1, 1221st Trans Co, Trenton, MO. After serving as a Human Resources Specialist with the 205th MED BN, Kansas City, MO, Oliver was then transferred and at the time of his death was serving as a Human Resources Specialist with the 110th Combat Support Brigade in Kansas City, MO. He was also a full time National Guard Technician with the Recruiting and Retention Command. SPC Oropeza was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, The Army Service Ribbon, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Oliver was a proficient and highly valued member of the 110th CBS. He was well liked and respected by his fellow soldiers, both his peers and the officers and NCO's of the unit. He will be very much missed. Today he is fondly remembered by the members of his unit and lovingly remembered by his family: His mother Olaya Oropeza of Glencoe, NM: his father, Jesus Jose Oropeza, of Las Cruces, NM and Jesus O. Oropeza (brother), Oscar Oropeza (brother), Lorenzo Rivera (brother), Sandra L. Rivera (sister) Javier Rubio (nephew), Jesse Oropeza (brother), Marcos Oropeza (brother), Carlos Oropeza (brother) , and many other relatives and Friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7PM. The funeral mass is at 10 AM on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Ricardo Bauza officiating. Full military honors will be given at 12 noon at the Ft.
