Syril (Sy) Delbert Kautenberger, age 98, peacefully passed away Friday evening November 28th 2014 at La Posada Hospice. Sy has been a resident of Las Cruces since 1962. He established M&S Motor Co in Las Cruces after completing a 20 year career in the military. He served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Syril (Sy) Delbert Kautenberger, age 98, peacefully passed away Friday evening November 28th 2014 at La Posada Hospice. Sy has been a resident of Las Cruces since 1962. He established M&S Motor Co in Las Cruces after completing a 20 year career in the military. He served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was born in Moorhead IA to William Kautenberger and Vera Cohrt. He grew up and attended school in Wyoming and Montana before joining the military. He was a master mechanic who enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles as much as he enjoyed driving them. Sy spent many of his retirement years with his wife Elizabeth RVing around the country. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Sauter, five step-daughters, numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents, two sisters and a brother. Sy was an avid hiker and loved wildlife and fishing. Graveside services will be held at Ft Bliss National Cemetery where his remains will be laid to rest with military honors at a later date.
