Sammy E Rigales, "El Musico", age 75, passed away Saturday July 6, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 22, 1938 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Luis and Ramona Esquivel Rigales. Sammy served Honorably in the United States Army and was also in the Army National Guard for over 30 years. He loved going to bingo and enjoyed going to the casinos. He also liked walking the Mesilla Valley Mall. He touched many lives and easily made friends everywhere he went. Sammy is survived by his children Terri Garcia and husband Umberto and Nick Rigales. Grandchildren Orlando, Andrew and Aaron Rigales, Daniel and Adriana Garcia, Eric and Leandra Rigales. Great-grandchildren Samuel A., Andrew D., Devin and Adam Rigales. Brother Luis Rigales, Jr. and sister Dora Gutierez and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Sammy is also survived by his loving companion of 18 years, Lupe Lujan. Step-children Lydia Lujan, Sylvia Hernandez and husband David, Beatrice Martinez and husband Mariano, Larry and Tony Lujan. Step-grandchildren Will DeLaO, Stephanie, Jake, Zachary, and Steven Lujan, Cassandra Hernandez, Kamala, Katrina, and April Maese; Step-great grandchildren Serenity Melero and Alexis Weaver. He also leaves behind his beloved pet Blanca. Sammy was preceded in death by his son Sammy Rigales, Jr., August 15, 1993; his parents Luis Rigales and Ramona Esquivel Rigales; his brothers and sisters Emilio Rigales, Ernesto Rigales, David Rigales, Danny Rigales, Pete Rigales, Erma Anaya, Ernestina Diaz, and Maria Madrid. A visitation will be Thursday July 11, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home from 6-7 pm where a prayer vigil will follow at 7pm. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday July 12, 2013 at St Genevieve Catholic Church 100 S Espina St., burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with Military Honors. Serving as casket bearers will be Orlando Rigales, Aaron Rigales, Daniel Garcia, Eric Rigales, Nick Rigales and Jimmy Rubio. PDF Printable Version
