Samuel T. Torres, 81, of Las Cruces died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. Sammy as he was fondly known was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Juan and Maria Torres. Sammy was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed music, playing dominos, crossword puzzles and his Spanish novellas. Samuel T. Torres, 81, of Las Cruces died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. Sammy as he was fondly known was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Juan and Maria Torres. Sammy was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed music, playing dominos, crossword puzzles and his Spanish novellas. Mr. Torres will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his three daughters Dalila Torres, Johanie Torres both of Las Cruces and Celia Torres of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Sammy was preceded in death by his 3 sons, parents, brothers and sisters. At his request cremation has taken place and no local services will be held.
