Santiago Rodriguez Melon, 90 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Mesilla Valley Hospice, La Posada. He was born September 20, 1918 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Juan and Maria Melon. Santiago Rodriguez Melon, 90 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Mesilla Valley Hospice, La Posada. He was born September 20, 1918 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Juan and Maria Melon. He was in the construction industry and was a member of the Catholic Church. His survived by eight daughters, Josie M. Smith; Jenny Melon; Mary Sanchez; Velia Zuniga; Yolanda Melon; Gloria Primero; Jackie Melon and Roseann Melon. Four sons, Frankie Melon; Tony Melon; Robert Melon; and George Melon. Also surviving him are two sisters, Mary Helen Guevara, Trinie Madrid and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Santiago was preceded in death by his wife, Josefina Molina Melon; son, James Melon; mother, Maria R. Melon; sister, Virginia Jacquez, and brothers, Johnny Melon, Benny Melon, and Leo Melon. At the families request, cremation has taken place and the Holy Rosary will be prayed followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10 am on Friday, January 9, 2009 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite. Officiating will be the Fathers of the Order of the Augustinian Recollects. The Rite of Committal and burial of his ashes will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
