It is with sorrow and sadness to announce the passing of our beloved father, Saturnino M. Gonzalez, on Monday February 6th, 2023, in El Paso Texas, at the age of 94 due to natural causes. It is with sorrow and sadness to announce the passing of our beloved father, Saturnino M. Gonzalez, on Monday February 6th, 2023, in El Paso Texas, at the age of 94 due to natural causes. Saturnino, was born in Fresnillo Zacatecas Mexico on March 28th, 1928 to Florentina Maria Martinez and J. Felix Gonzalez. He is predeceased by his brothers Catarino, Tono, Chevo Gonzalez and sister Maria De Jesus Gonzalez. He is also predeceased by his wife Margarita Ramos Gonzalez, sons Jesse and Ricky Gonzalez and daughter, Yolanda "Chacha" Gonzalez. He is survived by his remaining daughters Anna Marie Gonzalez and Virginia Gonzalez of Las Vegas Nevada. Sons Charlie Gonzalez and wife Nita Gonzalez of Las Vegas Nevada, Florentino Gonzalez, Isidro Gonzalez, Johnny Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Freddie Perez of Las Cruces New Mexico and Freddy Gonzalez and his wife Letty of El Paso Texas. Saturnino is also survived by his numerous and beloved (31) grandchildren (50) great grandchildren and (8) great-great grandchildren who all dearly loved and admired their grandpa. He immigrated to the U.S. under the Bracero Work Program in the early 40's working the fields in Texas, New Mexico, and California. After settling in Las Cruces, he became a painter by trade working for Binns Construction for many years. Our father was also a very good baseball player. Pitching being his specialty. He played for various teams in the Harlingen and Beaumont Texas area. He would be sold from ranch to ranch for an increase in pay because of his baseball talents. A rosary will be held on Friday February 17th, 2023, at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Friends of the family from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a prayer rosary at 3:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held following the services at the VFW Post located at 2001 Mesquite in las Cruces, friends and family are welcome. Cremation will be done at a later date.
