Sharon Y. Lamphier passed away on Thursday, August 27, at Mesilla Valley Hospice with her husband and dear friends at her side after a lengthy battle with Muscular Dystrophy and heart failure. Sharon Y. Lamphier passed away on Thursday, August 27, at Mesilla Valley Hospice with her husband and dear friends at her side after a lengthy battle with Muscular Dystrophy and heart failure. Sharon Cook was born June 8, 1943, in St. Paul, MN and was adopted at age three by Larry and Viola (Betty) Cook of Lakeland, MN. She attended Lakeland grade school and Stillwater High School, graduating in 1961. After graduation she worked at Tri County Savings and Loan in Hudson, WI. In 1963 she married James Lamphier and moved to Madison, WI, where her husband took a position with the Wisconsin State Patrol as a Police Communications Operator. During this time, she worked at the MotherCare Maternity Shop, eventually becoming assistant manager. In 1994 James took early retirement and they moved to Elephant Butte and then to Las Cruces. Sharon enjoyed reading, crocheting, and cross-stitch. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband James and three sons, Marty; Eddie and wife, Keira; and Brian and partner, James. Also surviving Sharon are grandchildren, Shane Coates; Karly, Nicky, and Jay Cee Lamphier and Taylor Lamphier. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10 am on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Calvary Chapel of Las Cruces, 139 S. Main St., Las Cruces. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Ortega. Serving, as pallbearers will be Paul Catanach, Bruce Turner, Ron Vernon, Jeff Jonsen, Bob Hardy, and Jim Cass.
