Shirley J. Harrington passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center at the age of 79. She was born in Eden, Texas on December 13, 1937 to Ernest K. Lackey and Joella Adkins. She had her sisters: Lola Vernstandridge, Ernestine Grooms, Bobbie Jean Smith and the sisters were called "three little girls" and her brothers: Henry Arnold Lackey (Sonny), Wilburn Ernest Lackey and Dewey Dalton Lackey. She married Charles Fred Harrington on November 10, 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Shirley was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Aunt, Granny and "Mother of the Neighborhood." She enjoyed being with family and friends, going shopping and having lunch with her sisters. She always cared for her children and no matter what trouble. They found themselves in she always guided them to be strong and figure out how to get on the right track again. She loved us all and wanted only the best for each of us. Her grandchildren gave her enjoyment and the reason to see life the next day. Everyone was special to her in their own ways. She enjoyed embroidery, her collection of pigs and dolls made out of plastic canvas. She is survived by her 3 children: Johnny & Trisha Harrington, Lisa & Jeff Owen, Retha (Jody) & David Munoz, her grandchildren: Ashley Elwell, Megan Raymond, Hanna Harrington, Crystal, Eric Owen, Amanda Halladay, Shauna Halladay, Alisa Munoz and David Munoz, her great-grandchildren: Clark, Jordan, Bailey, Aria, Dustin, Roland, Rosalinda, Marisol, Nevaeh, Ryan, and Ezra. She is predeceased by her Parents Ernest and Jeolla Lackey, husband Charles, her brothers Henry, Wilburn, sisters Ernestine and Lola and Great-Granddaughter Neveah Andrade. There will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday June 2nd 2017 at 10:00am. PDF Printable Version Service Information
