Socorro A. Loya

Socorro A. Loya, 64, of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. "Coy" as she was fondly known was born Oct. 30, 1948 in Anthony, NM to Antonio B. and Jesusita Segovia Armendariz Sr. She had worked for Cal-Compaq after 35 years of faithful service. She enjoyed her pet dogs and shopping but her passion was for her family. Socorro will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Alfonzo Loya Sr. of the family home; son Alfonzo Loya Jr. and companion Lucy Duran of Las Cruces; daughter Diana Loya of Las Cruces; brothers Eduardo Armendariz and wife Hermelinda of Del Cerro, NM, Antonio Armendariz Jr. and wife Socorro of Las Cruces and Oscar Armendariz and wife Rosa of Arizona; sisters Yolanda Monge and husband Rafael, Rosa Almaguer and David, Patricia Prieto and husband Joe and Josie Gomez and husband Pat all of Las Cruces. Also surviving her is her granddaughter Marianna Loya and numerous nieces and nephews. Socorro was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 pm on Sunday, Jan.27, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 6 pm. Her funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at 10 am on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Moreno officiating. Rite of Committal will be at San Albino Catholic Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer will be members of Socorro's family and friends. PDF Printable Version
