Socorro Aguilera Montez is now in the loving arms of our heavenly father and her beloved daughter Norma "Mina" Moreno. Socorro was 70 years old when she passed on April 27th, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family, as was her wishes. Socorro was born in Deming, New Mexico in 1944. She is survived by her spouse of 54 years Julian Garcia Montez II, of Hatch NM. Her children; Minerva (Benny) Fuentes of TorC, Steve (Diana) Montez of Garfield, NM, Anthony (Beverlee) Montez of Hatch, NM, Chris (Jennifer) Montez of Hatch, NM, Rachel (Jose) Gutierrez of TorC, and her godson, Daniel Munoz of Anchorage, AK. Socorro is survived by 16 grandchildren; Augustine Herrera, Melissa (Ernesto) Garcia, Stephanie (Mark) Montez, Julian Montez III, Isaac (Lily) Fuentes, Catherine (Stephone) Montez, Priscilla Fuentes, Sabrina Gutierrez, Aaron Montez, Ryan Montez, Megan Montez, Vanessa Gutierrez, Emily Gutierrez, Beckham Kidd, Blake Kidd, and Brooke Mina Montez. She had 7 great-grandchildren; Darius Herrera, Kaitlyn Garcia, James Fuentes, Katrina Garcia, Isaiah Fuentes, Stevie Ray Montez and Autumn Ochoa. Socorro is also survived by her son-in-law David (Norma) Moreno, brother Sisto Aguilera, and sister Maria Carreras of Hatch, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Socorro was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Raquela Montez, her brother Pancho Aguilera, and her beloved daughter Norma Jean Moreno. A prayer vigil for Socorro will be at 10:00 am Tuesday May 5, 2015 at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church in Hatch, with the Funeral Liturgy following the prayer vigil.
